Cerebral Palsy is not one illness but rather a general term that applies to a number of physically debilitating illnesses. These illnesses all occur in children and are all eventually fatal. There is no cure for Cerebral Palsy; although, there are treatments available to help manage the symptoms.
There are there main occurrences of Cerebral Palsy, and they are all during the first period of a child’s development. Cerebral Palsy can occur either during the pregnancy, during birth, or during the first three years of a child’s life.
Causation
There are many factors that can cause Cerebral Palsy. If you are interested in finding out what caused your child’s condition then make a detailed list of everything that occurred from the start of your pregnancy to the present day, especially make note of anything out of the ordinary. Once you have this list, take it to your doctor and have them advise you on what may be the cause of your child’s Cerebral Palsy. This list can also be helpful to a lawyer if you determine that your child’s Cerebral Palsy may have been caused by an employer’s or doctor’s negligence.
