National Custody & Support Law Attorneys Introduction:

Custody and Support Attorneys deal with cases in the realm of family law pertaining specifically to child custody and support payments. Typically, custody issues arise in cases having to do with dissolution of marriage, whether due to divorce or annulment, where there are children involved. Most decisions on which parent the child or children will reside with are based on the best interest of the child standard. It is the Custody Attorneys job to prove how involved their client is in the child’s life and what kind of emotional bonds they share, as well as the financial and emotional health of the client. Often times a shared custody agreement can be reached.

Child support is an amount set by the court for a non-custodial parent to pay periodically to the custodial parent or guardian for the care or maintenance of a child from a terminated relationship or marriage. The amount of support is calculated based on several factors including the parent’s income, the age and the number of children and their basic living expenses. In order to collect support, a custodial guardian or their Support Attorney must file an application or complaint at their local magistrate, and parentage of the child must be proven.
