National Family Law Introduction:

Generally citizens who utilize the services of a Family Law Attorney are facing divorce, child custody hearings and support issues. Dealing with domestic situations and child custody is one of the most emotional areas of the law for attorneys and clients. Family Law Attorneys most common jobs are dealing with divorce. As a little less than half of all marriages end in divorce this area of the law is one of the busiest. Even when a divorce is completed and all issues resolved there can be continuing changes to custody and spousal/child support as needed that require representation. These attorneys also deal with spousal abuse cases, adoption, child abuse and surrogacy cases. The above-mentioned issues do not cover all the potential cases that go through the family court for resolution. The family courts in the United States are some of the most crowded courts in the country and there is no sign that is going to change. There have been some improvements through the use of mediators which can sometimes allow couples to forgo legal representation and work through issues through mediation but not often. Often a family court judge needs to step in and make a definitive ruling on support or custody.
