Charges that had been made against R&B star Kelis have been tossed out by a Miami judge recently. She had been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after being arrested last year having been accused to interfering with a Miami Beach police operation. The star is now promising to sue the police.

According to a recent report the province run commission Loto-Quebec could face having to pay out over seven hundred million dollars because of a class action lawsuit that has been filed by gambling addicts in the province. A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed over the death of a man from Red Deer. Jason Doan died after being shot with a Taser in August 2006 according to the report. The wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by his parents, sister, and daughter, and seeks over one and a half million dollars.

The family of a murdered UW University student has filed a lawsuit over security issues at the former student's Madison apartment. Brittany Zimmerman was killed earlier this year in April, and the family now claims that there were security issues at her apartment.

Woman Sues Pawtucket Over Shooting - Added 08-15-08
A woman is suing the city of Pawtucket following an incident where the father of her son was shot dead by a city police officer. She claims in her lawsuit that officers were not trained to deal with people with mental problems, and claims that the police officers were too aggressive.

The father of her son, Jason Swift, died after being shot by an officer during a struggle in his apartment back in February of this year. Noelle Farry, the mother of the child, filed the lawsuit after notifying the city of her intention to sue in July.

The mother of a teenage boy that was charged in the fatal beating of an illegal immigrant has sued her son's school for barring him from school in his senior year. She claims that the school violated her son's legal rights by barring him from school during his senior year, and is suing the Shenandoah Valley School District.

A bank teller that was refused worker's compensation and later fired after being held at gunpoint during a robbery is suing Regions Financial Corp, accusing the company of outrageous conduct. The lawsuit was filed in Jefferson County Circuit Court earlier this week by former bank teller Angela Whitfield.
