Assault Charges Against Kid Rock Dismissed

The case of a woman who filed an assault lawsuit against singer Kid Rock has had her case dismissed, after the jury deliberated for just two hours. The Novi woman, Ann Kozlowski, received no compensation after the one day civil trial.

The twenty nine year old was seeking twenty five thousand dollars in compensation from thirty seven year old Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert J Ritchie. She claims that the star assaulted her and pushed her into some snow outside his studio. After this she saw her name mentioned in the papers after the star sued her for defamation and trespassing and she then countersued claiming that the situation had caused her emotional distress.

However, the jury of seven members found the singer not guilty, and the plaintiff’s lawsuit was dismissed. Kid Rock’s lawsuit had also been dismissed after he failed to show at a deposition hearing. However, the star wrote to the courts arguing that he had put forward other dates that did not clash with his existing commitment.

In a letter Ritchie wrote: “This case should be decided on the facts, not on a scheduling issue where the other side didn’t even argue they were hurt by the brief delay. I’ve never asked for special treatment for being Kid Rock, but I’ve always expected not to be punished, or passed judgment on, especially by a court of law, for being him either. All I’m asking for is a fair shake – my full day in court.”
