Widow Of Pavarotti Files Lawsuit

The widow of the recently deceased Tenor singer, Luciano Pavarotti, has filed a lawsuit against two friends of the former singer. The lawsuit was filed last month by the singer’s widow, Nicoletta Mantovani, who claims that the two defendants made comments about her marriage that were defamatory.

A lawyer working for the plaintiff stated that she would not tolerate speculative comments about her marriage to the singing star. She is claiming damages for around forty thirty million Euros (forty four million dollars) as part of the lawsuit for defamation.

The singer passed away earlier this year in September at the age of seventy one. He died from pancreatic cancer. According to the two friends of the singer against whom the lawsuit has been filed his widow was fighting the singer’s daughters from a previous marriage over the estate, and the singer had been unhappy with the marriage.

The lawyer stated: “Since the comments did not cease — and were, in fact, reiterated — Mantovani had no choice but to file the lawsuit. She is doing it to protect her sense of respectability — privately for the sake of her daughter and the memory of the maestro, publicly for her image and any future professional activity.”
