Taco Bell Slams 50 Cent

Fast food giant Taco Bell found itself at the centre of legal action earlier this year, after the rap star 50 Cent filed a lawsuit against the restaurant claiming that it had used his name in an advertising campaign without asking his permission to do so. The lawsuit against Taco Bell was filed in July of this year.

The four million dollar lawsuit against Taco Bell accused the company of affecting the value of the rapper’s ‘good name’. However, Taco Bell has come back fighting, and in response to the suit has said that the rapper is nothing more than a “self-described former drug dealer and hustler” whose rap has strong links to violent crimes.

Taco Bell has also told a judge that the rapper has “used his colorful past to cultivate a public image of belligerence and arrogance and has a well-publicized track record of making threats, starting feuds and filing lawsuits. At the same time, Jackson holds himself out as a giver to charity and one who wants to give back to his community.”

In the advertisement that was run by Taco Bell the rapster was encouraged to change his name for one day to 79, 89, or 99 Cent. However, the rapper claims that he was unaware of the advertising campaign until he read about it in papers in June.
