A lawsuit that was filed against the state by a former Kings Park resident has been settled for one hundred and twenty five thousand dollars. The lawsuit was filed by the plaintiff Brigitte Williams who claims to have been tackled and handcuffed by a security guard in 2005 on the Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital grounds.

According to the lawsuit the woman was walking her dogs on the Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital grounds when the incident occurred. Williams claims that she was harassed by the security guard for some time, claiming that he took pictures of her and her nearby property, and made calls to authorities regarding her dogs defecating on the grounds. Ms. Williams denied the claim. In the initial confrontation the guard is said to have tackled Williams to the ground and handcuffed her as she walked her three dogs on the grounds. Neighbors saw the altercation and called Mr. Williams, a sergeant in the counter terrorism unit of the NYPD.

Following the incident, Williams claims to have become the victim of harassment, claiming that the guard and other employees of the state were shining torches onto her property, taking pictures, and engaging in general harassment.
