Man Files Lawsuit Over Removal of Penis

A man from Kentucky has filed a lawsuit against a doctor in Shelby County, after claiming that his appointment to have a circumcision turned into a full scale penis removal. Sixty one year old Phillip Seaton attended the appointment with Dr John Patterson last October.

According to the lawsuit Seaton has told the doctor not to remove anything “but the foreskin on the penis.” However, he claims that the doctor then went ahead and amputated the penis during the procedure because he thought that he had found cancer.

An attorney for the Seatons said that the doctor should have in fact stopped the procedure and discussed the findings and the possible solutions with the patient and his wife rather than simply going ahead and performing the surgery.

He said: “Before someone amputates your penis, you want to be real sure it’s necessary. You have a right to decide what the doctor is going to do, what kind of treatment it’s going to be … and when it’s going to occur. He was never given a choice.”
