Woman Files Lawsuit Over Baby Bottles

Posted:

A woman from Arkansas has filed a lawsuit against a firm that manufactures plastic baby bottles, claiming that the firm uses a dangerous chemical that is linked to serious diseases in the manufacturing of the bottles. Ashley Campbell has filed her lawsuit against Playtex Products Inc of Westport.

Campbell claims that the firm uses a chemical called bisphenol A in the manufacture of the baby bottles. She is seeking class action status on the lawsuit so that it can represent potentially thousands of people that purchased the baby bottles manufactured by the firm. Officials have recently stated that the chemical can be dangerous.

The chemical is found in a range of other products, such as DVDs and CDs. It is also found in dental sealants, in the lining of food cans, and in eyeglasses. Officials state that recent animal experiments using the drug were cause for some concern with regards to the effects of the drug.

The company has not commented on the lawsuit as yet, stating that it cannot comment on any pending legal action. However, one official said that US and global regulators still deemed the chemical to be safe.
