Parents To File Lawsuit Over Baseball Bat

The parents of a boy that suffered horrific injuries that left him disables are blaming the makers of metal baseball bat for the injuries sustained by their son, and are filing a lawsuit against several defendants. The parents of Steven Domalewski are filing a suit against the manufacturer of the bat, Hillerrich & Bradsby Co,

Also named as defendants are the Little League Baseball and Sports Authority, and a sporting goods chain that sold the bats. The injuries occurred when a ball slammed into Steven’s chest during a game, hitting him hard in between heartbeats and sending him into cardiac arrest. He is now severely disabled with brain damage.

His father said that Steven will need millions of dollars worth of care for the rest of his life, and stated: “Pretty much, he died. It was just so fast. The thud, you could hear. When it hit him, that seemed to echo.”

The parents claim that the ball comes off the aluminium bats far faster than off wooden ones, and therefore the bats should not be considered suitable for junior games. The lawsuit is to be filed in Passaic County, New Jersey.
