Woman Suspected of Brutal Hit-And-Run Incident was Arrested on Felony DUI Charges

A woman was arrested and charged with a DUI on Monday, from an Oceanside Community in San Diego, after a horrific hit-and-run accident. According to the accounts given by eye-witnesses, the brutal collision happened at around 6:20 in the morning at Mission Avenue, on 4000 block. After the impact, the pedestrian’s body remained embedded into the vehicle, yet the drunk driver kept going for a mile before pulling over and abandoning the car.
According to police reports, the suspect is 29 year old Esteysi Sanchez Izazaga, also known as Stacy Sanchez. She was driving under the influence when her car drifted into the sidewalk and hit an unaware pedestrian. At the time, Izazaga was reportedly driving at a really fast speed, therefore when she crashed into the victim; his body flew straight into the windshield and landed, heard first, into the passenger seat.
During the horrific crash, the victim’s leg detached from his body, flew out of the back window, and landed on the trunk of the car. However Esteysi keept on driving with the dying man on her front seat for at least a mile or more before she decided to park her car and walk to her home, two blocks away.
The incident was first reported to the police by her live-in boyfriend, who called them after she abandoned the car. The police located Izazaga at her home and proceeded to arrest her.
One witness, who was outside working on his car at the time of the crash, said that the experience was traumatizing and that he has no words to describe what he saw. Another witness expressed his reluctance to even come outside, in fear of the horrible scene he would lay eyes on.
Esteysi Izazaga was charged with felony DUI, felony hit-and-run, and vehicular manslaughter charges. She was detained at Vista Detention Facility but it is still uncertain if she has obtained legal representation.
Unfortunately, the victim’s identity hasn’t been determined yet, but the police hope to contact the family very soon, before announcing their name.
